December 13, 2002, Newsletter Issue #114: December Fruit and Vegetables

Tip of the Week

Buying fruit and vegetables when they are in season will save you money. Here`s a list of those produce items that hit their peak supply and taste in North America in December.

FRUIT: Apples, Grapefruit, Oranges, and Quinces.
VEGETABLES: Broccoli, Brussel sprouts, Carrots, Celery, Collard greens, Endive, Kale, Mushrooms, Parsnips, Potatoes, Rutabagas, and Turnips.

Some of the items may also be available during other times of the year, but they probably are shipped in from other parts of the world. Prices for those fruits will probably be higher due to the costs associated with importing.
