What is the definition of ice cream?

Do you know the difference between different labels on ice cream such as lowfat, nonfat, or light?

Ice cream: A frozen food that consists of a mixture of dairy products. This mixture contains at least 10% milkfat.

Reduced fat ice cream: A frozen food that contains a minimum of 25% less total fat than the product it is referring to. This can be as compared to the industry average or to this brand's own ice cream.

Light ice cream: A frozen food that contains a minimum of at least 50% less total fat or 33% fewer calories than the product it is referring to. This can be as compared to the industry average or to this brand's own ice cream.

Lowfat ice cream: A frozen food that contains a maximum of 3 grams of total fat per 1/2 cup serving.

Nonfat ice cream: A frozen food that contains less than 0.5 grams of total fat per 1/2 cup serving.
